Two years of stroke and tbi recovery is certainly something worth celebrating. Welcome to the party and thanks for celebrating with us!

Hi and welcome to the party. This is a celebration of living… a celebration of becoming the best possible version of oneself. Just as Jessica’s life has improved through hard work and determination, so can yours. We invite you into a snapshot of recovery and encourage you to become the best possible version of yourself as well!

Smiles Start Here

No party could possibly represent how happy we are with Jessica’s progress. Seeing kids eyes widen as they are confronted with this visual… their eyes represent the joy we feel concerning how far Jess has come during the past year.

A Moment with the Cake

Look closely and observe Jess’ cane in the background. Jess wants to get rid of it, but for now it allows enough mobility to get around independently… including a short stop at the cake.

New Beginnings

After two years of worrying about the past, the time has come to get out there and explore new things. In year two we regained the ability to take the whole family out for meals and activities. In year 3, perhaps we’ll step it up and leave town for a few days…

A Bright Future

Couldn’t resist one more cake picture. Look at Charlotte… not only has she learned to trust her mother to be strong enough for this… her gaze is symbolic of what the future holds.

101 Degrees… No Problem

Party day ended up being the hottest day in years. The helium balloons withered quickly. Some of our supplies never arrived. This day was a reminder of how things progressed during the entire recovery. Small setbacks should be laughed off (oh, and it never hurts to adjust to 100+ degree heat by putting out one or two misting machines).

Jess Delivers a Speech

Magnificent on many levels. Not only can she find the words, but she can project them out over the crowd below. This would never have been possible without the help of so many who expected so much out of her. The kids gave her speech high marks… she was wise enough to thank them first!

Jessica and I appreciate having you celebrate our successes with us. Please feel free to leave your thoughts below. Thanks and God bless!

    Jessica,

I’ve been receiving emails through Ruthfred Lutheran Church regarding your tbi for the past couple of years. I’ve cried, I’ve applauded, and I’ve prayed for you. Your progress is amazing. Though I’ve never met you or your family, I praise Jason’s faithfulness in helping you along the way. He’s taken over in areas where a lot of men wouldn’t have. With God’s help and the love you have for each other, many more accomplishments are yet to come. God bless you and your wonderful family.

    Hi, Jess,

I don’t know if you remember me but I was Elise and Abby’s Preschool Director at Bethel Presby. I have been following your story since day 1 through Jason’s wonderful emails and posts. You are so blessed to have such a rock at your side!! My brother had a TBI in a car accident over 24 years ago and experienced many of the same things that you did. I was the historian of the event and wrote a journal of events that happened along the way. I’m sure that Jason has found the writing to be very theraputic for himself just as I did. He has done a wonderful job in keeping everyone who has been concerned about you and praying for you up to date on your progress.

What a journey you have been on!! It is amazing to me that what God can do! You are blessed that Charlotte came through it all so well and that you have been able to recover to the point that you will be her Mom just the same has you have been a wonderful Mom to Elise and Abby. It is so great to see you all molding together as a complete family once again. It is my belief that you will soar to even greater heights through year 3, 4, 5 and beyond.

I am sorry that I couldn’t be there to celebrate with you in person, but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I celebrate with you in spirit!!

I look forward to Charlotte’s preschool years (which will be here soon). We have a wonderful 2-year old class that’s just 2 hrs. long on Fridays that would be great fun for you and Charlotte if you feel you could handle it. Pam Gainar is the teacher and we have a lot of fun. Think about it and let me know.

Continue your great work in recovery and know that there are so many out there who know your story and are with you and praying for you as you work through your challenges. May God continue to bless you all!!

Thanks for the kind words Leanne… stroke and tbi are life changing events and we’re still in the process of learning how to live in this new world!
